Product Overview

This machine provides a small-batch platform for investigating ingredient incorporation, emulsification, thermal processing and vacuum treatment. Its counter-rotating anchor and central paddle arrangement supplies bulk mixing, while the bottom rotor-stator homogenizer applies localized high shear and drives material through the external circulation route.

For cosmetic cream, lotion and skin-care development, the system can help evaluate formulation changes under documented processing conditions. A 10L oil preparation tank supports separate oil-phase work; no integrated water preparation pot is confirmed.

Selected ointment and pharmaceutical formulation duties may also be evaluated against product viscosity, material compatibility and cleaning requirements. The application description does not establish sterile processing, regulatory approval or suitability for every pharmaceutical product.

The confirmed heating arrangement uses external steam, with electric heating available as an alternative. Hydraulic head lifting provides vessel access, while electric tilting and the bottom ball valve offer different discharge arrangements. Siemens PLC and HMI provide the specified control platform.

The listed working range is 5–20L within a 30L total vessel capacity. Trials should assess the intended batch volume, circulation behavior and recoverable sample quantity rather than vessel capacity alone.

Machine Configuration

The main vessel combines a steam-heated jacket, insulation and a hydraulically lifting head. A counter-rotating anchor agitator with a central paddle and PTFE wall scrapers provides the specified bulk mixing arrangement.

The bottom-entry rotor-stator homogenizer processes material and supplies conveying action into the external circulation route, which returns product to the main vessel. The final drawing should identify the outlet, return point, valves and cleaning route.

A separate 10L oil tank supports ingredient preparation. Siemens PLC and HMI coordinate the supplied functions through the agreed control program.

Electric tilting and a bottom ball valve provide the confirmed discharge arrangements; an external transfer pump is optional. The caster-mounted base supports planned repositioning under the approved handling procedure. Electric heating is an alternative configuration. Seal support, steam services, cooling connections and any external cleaning equipment require a defined supply schedule.

Working Principle

Development work begins with a defined formulation and trial objective. Ingredients requiring separate oil-phase preparation can be handled in the supplied oil tank, while any separately prepared water phase needs an external arrangement.

After charging, the anchor and central paddle operate in the supplied counter-rotating arrangement. PTFE scrapers act along the vessel wall, while the jacket transfers heat from the selected steam service into the batch. Operating settings follow the ingredient sequence and permitted thermal conditions.

Material entering the bottom rotor-stator homogenizer experiences localized shear. The homogenizing head also provides the conveying action that moves material through the external circulation path and back into the main vessel. Actual circulation depends on the working head, product and pipework; rpm alone does not establish flow or pass count.

Vacuum is applied at the stages defined by the trial method. The operator or supplied program coordinates ingredient addition, agitation, homogenization and thermal conditions according to the agreed control functions.

Cooling proceeds through the selected jacket-water service where required. Heat-sensitive ingredients may enter during a separately defined finishing stage.

Once the sample meets the trial endpoint, the machine is brought to the approved discharge condition. Product leaves through the bottom ball valve or electric tilting arrangement, with an external transfer pump optional. The head-lifting and tilting sequences must follow the manufacturer’s pressure-equalization and operating procedures.

  • Defined circulation study: The external return route allows the team to examine circulation as part of the method, provided its geometry and operating conditions are documented.
  • Separate oil-phase preparation: The supplied oil tank supports recipes requiring independently prepared oil ingredients without implying a complete two-pot preparation system.
  • Accessible changeover: Hydraulic opening and the confirmed discharge arrangements support inspection and sample recovery under the approved procedure.
  • Structured production evaluation: The system can help identify process sensitivities and required functions for later equipment selection, without treating laboratory results as verified production performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is intended for teams evaluating compatible formulations and processing methods before larger-scale trials. The machine can support work on creams, lotions, gels, ointments and related products where its mixing, thermal and vacuum functions match the recipe. Define the development objective before choosing the equipment or operating settings.
The working capacity is 20L, while 30L is the total main-vessel capacity. The listed minimum batch is 5L. Preserve these distinctions when planning trials. Sample recovery also depends on material retained in the vessel, working head, circulation circuit and discharge connections.
Yes. The confirmed arrangement uses the homogenizing head to provide conveying action. Material enters the external circulation path and returns to the main vessel. Obtain the actual circuit drawing before assigning a flow rate, pass count or retained-volume allowance. A separate circulation pump has not been confirmed.

Installation Requirements

Plan the installation from the final general arrangement drawing. The listed dimensions are 1600 × 650 × 1650 mm, with a fully raised height of 2080 mm. Provide the additional clearance required for safe head movement, service access, electric tilting and receiving-container placement.

The listed machine weight is 500 kg. Assess the floor and caster loading for the complete operating arrangement, including product, the oil tank and connected services. Define a level operating location and the approved method of securing the mobile assembly.

Provide an engineered external steam supply matched to the jacket's approved operating limits. Include isolation, regulation, protection and condensate handling in the installation scope. The 0.3 MPa jacket design pressure is not a main-vessel positive-pressure rating.

Provide the selected cooling-water service and approved heating-to-cooling changeover arrangement. Confirm vacuum-pump and mechanical-seal support services from the installed component documentation.

Obtain the final electrical load schedule for the motors, vacuum pump, hydraulic lifting, electric tilting and controls. Do not use the unverified 3 kW total-power entry to size the electrical supply. An electric-heating alternative requires its own load assessment.

Provide suitable cleaning-water access and drainage. Compressed air is only required for functions explicitly included in the final equipment schedule. Confirm safe disconnection and reconnection of services before relocating the machine.

Technical Buyer's Handbook & Deep Insight

Who the 20L Laboratory Vacuum Emulsifying Mixer Suits

This model is intended for development teams that need a defined processing platform between very small laboratory work and production batches. Its distinguishing arrangement combines counter-rotating agitation, an oil preparation tank, steam heating, hydraulic access and homogenizer-driven external circulation.

The purchase should follow the questions the laboratory needs to answer. A formulation-screening program may prioritize small sample quantities, while process development may need enough material for repeated analysis, retained samples and packaging evaluation.

The cosmetic laboratory mixing equipment guide provides broader context for matching equipment functions to the development program.

Compare the 20L Model with the 5L Circulation System

The 5L laboratory circulation vacuum emulsifier is a specific smaller option where trial quantities and sample requirements justify it.

Selection point20L laboratory model5L circulation model
Working capacity20L5L
Listed minimum batch5L1L
Auxiliary phase preparation10L oil tank suppliedNo integrated oil or water pots
Main purposeDevelopment and pilot-batch evaluationSmaller formulation and process trials

The larger model provides more material per trial, but it also commits more ingredients and may increase the practical changeover task. Choose around the useful sample quantity and processing arrangement rather than assuming larger equipment always improves development work.

Plan Trial Quantity Around Recoverable Samples

The 5–20L listed range describes charged batch quantities, not guaranteed recovered sample volumes. Material retained in the working head, external loop, valve and vessel can matter at laboratory scale.

Prepare a sample budget covering processing, in-process checks, retained samples, repeat analysis and any packaging trial. A 5L charge may be insufficient if the program requires nearly that entire quantity after discharge.

Review recovery using the actual discharge method. The guide to product recovery and manufacturing waste reduction provides context for assessing the complete product pathway.

Use Counter-Rotating Agitation as a Recorded Trial Condition

The supplied assembly uses an anchor agitator with a central paddle in a counter-rotating arrangement, alongside PTFE scraping. Obtain the drawing showing the moving components and their available adjustments.

The listed mixing range is 0–63 rpm. Confirm how that specification applies to the delivered assembly rather than assuming independent, identical speed ranges for both elements.

Record the actual agitation settings and liquid level during trials. When comparing formulations, keep the mechanical arrangement consistent so a change in bulk movement is not mistaken for a formulation effect.

For structured products, examine whether material reaches the homogenizing region throughout the batch. Visible movement near the top is not enough to establish complete circulation.

Document the Homogenizer-Driven External Circuit

The homogenizing head supplies the conveying action that moves material through the external route and back to the main vessel. A separate circulation pump is not part of the confirmed configuration.

Obtain the circuit drawing, including return location, valves, connections and the method used to empty the loop. These details influence retained material, cleaning and the interpretation of small-batch trials.

The 0–3000 rpm range does not establish a circulation flow rate. If pass count is important, define how flow and treatment exposure will be assessed rather than calculating passes from shaft speed.

Keep routing and valve positions consistent when comparing trials unless the purpose is specifically to investigate a circuit change.

Map the Recipe to the 10L Oil Tank

The oil tank supports separate preparation of compatible oil-phase ingredients. Its listed capacity does not prove that every 20L formulation’s oil requirement can be prepared in one charge.

Confirm the pot’s usable quantity, actual heating and agitation provisions, and transfer method. The main vessel and auxiliary tank should not be assumed to have identical functions.

No integrated water pot is confirmed. Where a separate water phase is needed, document its external preparation conditions and transfer sequence.

For sensitive finishing additions, the guide to fragrance and active-ingredient addition during cosmetic manufacturing provides related context. Actual temperatures and timing must follow the formulation.

Assess Steam Heating as Part of the Laboratory Installation

Steam heating is the confirmed arrangement, with electric heating optional. A laboratory needs an appropriate steam service, regulation and condensate route to use that configuration.

The guide to steam and electric heating for vacuum emulsifying mixers provides a comparison framework. The practical choice depends on the available services and required thermal duties.

The listed ±1°C control accuracy needs a defined measurement point and acceptance condition. It does not establish that every formulation is uniformly within that tolerance throughout heating and cooling.

Record actual product conditions during trials, especially when comparing different batch quantities or separately prepared phases.

Define What the Siemens Controls Record and Automate

Siemens PLC and HMI are specified together with a fully automatic classification. Translate that description into a function schedule for the delivered machine.

Identify the automatic stages, adjustable values, operator confirmations and supplied alarms. If saved recipes or automatic trial records are required, specify their contents and output method.

Where data capture is not included, establish a separate record covering formulation version, charge quantity, ingredient order, settings, temperatures, vacuum use, sampling and observations.

A repeatable trial record is more useful for development than assuming the presence of a touchscreen makes every experiment directly comparable.

Plan Scale-Up Against Specific Production Configurations

The 100L button control vacuum emulsifying mixer is a specific production option where operator-led processing and its supplied agitation arrangement suit the recipe.

The 100L hydraulic lift vacuum emulsifying machine with PLC/HMI control provides another configuration to compare.

Neither should be treated as a direct copy of this 20L system at a larger volume. Review agitation geometry, phase preparation, circulation, thermal behavior and discharge together.

Use development results to identify the required product condition and process sensitivities. Then agree representative trials on the proposed production equipment rather than transferring rpm and time as a validated scale-up rule.

Choose Discharge Around the Sample and Receiving Method

The confirmed machine has a bottom ball valve and electric tilting. These arrangements serve different handling needs and should each be reviewed with the actual product.

Consider receiving-container position, sample recovery, product flow and the route remaining after discharge. Tilting does not establish complete recovery from the homogenizer or external circuit.

An external transfer pump is optional. Pressure-assisted discharge is not confirmed and must not be inferred from the compressed-air connection or jacket design pressure.

Include Hydraulic Access and Mobility in the Layout

The listed fully raised height is 2080 mm. Use the final drawing to determine the additional operating and maintenance clearance, including overhead services and access to moving components.

Electric tilting requires its own movement envelope and receiving area. Review it separately from the hydraulic head-lifting clearance.

Caster mounting supports planned relocation, not movement while connected, pressurized or otherwise outside the approved handling conditions. Confirm the permitted load state and method of securing the machine at each operating location.

Assess Cleaning Across the Vessel and External Loop

The CIP spray ball is a cleaning provision, not evidence of a complete automatic cleaning cycle. The guide to CIP spray balls and complete cleaning-system requirements explains this distinction.

Include the anchor, central paddle, scrapers, homogenizer, ball valve, circulation route and oil tank in the cleaning assessment. Confirm which components require separate access or removal.

The guide to cleaning dead corners in process equipment can support the inspection plan. Residue from one development formula should not undermine interpretation of the next trial.

Evaluate the Complete Development Cost

Compare ingredient consumption, recoverable sample quantity, cleaning time, steam availability, maintenance access and trial documentation alongside the purchase price.

The unverified 3 kW total-power entry should be replaced by a final electrical load schedule. Do not assume the agitation and homogenizer ratings cover the vacuum pump, lifting, tilting and controls.

The total cost of ownership guide for cosmetic machinery provides a broader purchasing framework. For laboratory work, the useful outcome is reliable development evidence rather than maximum liters per hour.

Prepare a Model-Specific Purchase Checklist
