Servo torque control and servo-driven height adjustment support setup for different packages. Automatic cap feeding and placement are supplied, with manual cap placement also available. This linear configuration forms part of the capping machines range for cosmetic, food and chemical packaging.

Machine Configuration

A linear conveyor presents bottles to a single four-wheel capping station. Four silicone contact wheels apply the tightening action, while the belt-gripping module supports the bottle against rotation.

The capping assembly combines servo torque control with servo-driven lift adjustment. Automatic cap feeding and placement serve the approved closure format; manual placement can also be used.

PLC and HMI controls coordinate the supplied functions. Panasonic photoelectric components and AirTAC pneumatic components support sensing and actuation. The servo motor, PLC, HMI and electrical components are selected for the ordered configuration.

The frame combines SUS304 stainless steel and aluminum-alloy construction on a caster-mounted base. A POM slat-chain conveyor provides bottle transport, with a stainless steel chain option available. Bottle guides, gripping-belt settings and wheel position are prepared around the actual bottle and closure.

Working Principle

Bottles enter the linear conveyor with the selected closure supplied through the automatic feeding and placement arrangement, or presented manually. The package is guided toward the four-wheel tightening station.

The bottle-gripping belts support the container and resist the rotation created during tightening. Their position and grip are set around the bottle’s shape and rigidity.

Four silicone wheels contact the circular closure surface and turn the cap onto the bottle thread. The servo-controlled tightening setting is established for the approved bottle and closure combination.

For trigger sprayers and pump closures, the wheels act on the suitable circular tightening section. Projecting components need clearance through the handling route, while cap presentation must allow the thread to engage correctly.

Servo-driven lift positions the assembly for the selected bottle height. Wheel spacing, guides and gripping settings are prepared before production, followed by checks of cap engagement and the finished package.

After tightening, bottles continue along the conveyor to collection or downstream packaging. PLC and HMI controls coordinate the supplied sequence. Each new format is checked with representative bottles and closures before routine operation.

Technical Buyer's Handbook & Deep Insight

Where the Servo 4-Wheel Capping Machine Fits

This machine suits conveyor-based screw tightening where bottles need support and the closure provides a suitable circular contact surface. Its defining combination is four silicone capping wheels, servo torque control, servo-driven lift and belt gripping.

Automatic cap feeding and placement support a connected packaging workflow. Manual cap placement is also available, so the operating arrangement can be developed around the actual closure and production task.

The rated 40–80 bottles per minute and 20–60 mm cap range provide starting specifications. The useful operating point depends on the complete bottle and closure rather than diameter alone.

Start with the Circular Tightening Surface

For this four-wheel arrangement, the closure’s contact geometry is central to selection. The wheels need access to a regular circular surface that can transmit the tightening action.

A conventional screw cap presents a different overall shape from a trigger sprayer or pump, but each may offer a suitable circular closure section. Examine that section together with the projections above it and the clearance through the machine.

Irregular contact surfaces need a revised solution. Changing wheel pressure is not a substitute for providing a suitable engagement arrangement.

Review Trigger Sprayers and Pumps as Complete Assemblies

Provide the full assembly, including the dip tube and projecting components, when evaluating cap feeding and placement. These parts can affect presentation even where the threaded closure section is circular.

Define the required finished condition. Tightening the closure onto the bottle is different from pointing a trigger in a particular direction, locking a pump or releasing a locked actuator.

For several closure types, identify which feeder parts and adjustments each needs. Automatic cap supply should be assessed for the actual components rather than assumed to be universal across every pump and trigger design.

Separate Torque Settings from Package Acceptance

Servo control provides an adjustable tightening setting. Acceptance should describe the result required from the complete bottle and closure, using an agreed measurement method.

Establish the package checks with representative components and the intended operating conditions. Cap material, thread engagement and bottle support can influence the completed closure.

A configured servo setting is not the same as a measured removal-torque result. Where torque testing is required, define the sampling method and suitable measuring equipment separately.

Record the approved setup for each packaging combination so repeat runs have a consistent starting point.

Set the Gripping Belts Around the Bottle

The belts support the container against the reaction created by tightening. Their height, spacing and grip should suit the actual bottle body.

Lightweight containers need particular attention to deformation, while irregular bottles may offer only limited suitable gripping surfaces. Evaluate the filled package because its handling behavior may differ from the empty bottle.

Check for rotation, visible marking and instability during the trial. A secure cap alone does not establish that the bottle-handling setup is acceptable.

Compare with the Semi-Automatic Four-Wheel Capper

The semi-automatic four-wheel screw capper provides another equipment direction where operator-assisted packaging suits the task.

Compare the machines using the same bottles, closures and acceptance requirement. The appropriate choice depends on how much of the feeding and handling task needs automation.

Keep Screw Tightening Separate from Press Closing

The automatic belt-type press capper addresses a different closing method. It should be considered for a compatible press-fit package rather than treated as an interchangeable screw-capping machine.

Identify the attachment method before selecting equipment. Friction-fit, snap-on, threaded and crimped closures place different demands on the machine and tooling.

This distinction matters when a factory uses several packages with a similar exterior appearance. The visible top of the closure does not necessarily reveal how it attaches to the bottle.

Plan Automatic Feeding and Manual Placement Clearly

Automatic feeding and placement reduce repeated cap-presentation tasks for the approved format. Manual placement remains useful where the selected operating arrangement calls for it.

State which mode will be used for each package. Review how caps are replenished, how interruptions are handled and what operators must check before restarting.

The article on moisture in compressed-air systems provides related utility context for the pneumatic service. The installed components determine the required air quality and maintenance arrangement.

Coordinate the Capper with the Filling Equipment

The capping station needs a stable supply of correctly presented bottles. Match transfer conditions and working speed to the upstream filler rather than selecting the capper’s upper speed in isolation.

An automatic two-nozzle tracking gear-pump packaging line provides one project-level reference for coordinated filling and closure duties. Use the actual ordered layout to avoid duplicating a capping function already included in a line.

For a compact integrated alternative, the two-head rotary filling and screw-capping monoblock combines operations in a different layout. A standalone linear capper and an integrated monoblock should be compared by their complete scope.

Include Change Parts and Wear Components

The silicone capping wheels and bottle-gripping belts are working contact surfaces. Their condition affects grip and should form part of the routine service review.

For format changes, identify the wheel position, belt settings, guides, height and cap-feeding parts required. Keep these adjustments together in the format record.

Compare replacement availability, cleaning access and conversion work alongside purchase price. The machinery total cost of ownership guide provides a broader framework for this assessment.

Prepare the Downstream Interface

Completed bottles may transfer to labeling equipment or other packaging operations. Bottle spacing, stability and the required presentation should be reviewed at the connection.

Trigger and pump projections can also affect downstream clearance. Check the complete capped package rather than only the bottle body.

Prepare the Purchase Specification

  • Provide complete bottle and closure samples.
  • Identify the circular tightening surface and projecting components.
  • Define the required closure condition and torque-check method.
  • Select automatic feeding and placement or manual placement for each format.
  • Agree the bottle-gripping and wheel-contact setup.
  • Identify change parts for all approved packages.
  • Confirm the selected servo, PLC, HMI and conveyor configuration.
  • Define upstream and downstream transfer conditions.
  • Plan service access and replacement contact parts.

StriversMachinery manufactures core processing equipment in-house and works with long-term partner manufacturers for complementary equipment. The capping arrangement is selected around the actual package and production workflow.
